Sligo Mountaineering & Hill-walking Club

Sligo Mountaineering Club LogoWelcome to Sligo Mountaineering Club Website. Sligo MC has been in existence since 1974 and in 2014 we clebrated 40 years of hiking and hill-walking. Currently the membership stands at over 100 members. The Club walks every Sunday of the year, and has a variety of different graded walks each month. 'Walks are graded taking into consideration the level of difficulty and duration. Whilst most of our members reside in the Sligo area, some are from Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford and south Donegal. We use Benbulben Mountain and the surrounding peaks as our playground. Quite a number of our walks are in the Twelve Bens, Blue Stacks and Shreffys etc. A number of weekend away trips are also arranged.

Our yearly calendar is made up of hikes in Counties:

Benbulben Head

Throughout the year there are a selection of days assigned to introduce new members to the mountains. Please click on the How To Join Tab for more information.

Membership of Sligo Mountaineering Club is available to all walkers, regardless of age or experience. However we do insist that under 18's are accompanied by a Parent or Guardian.

Please explore this web site to gain more information about the club and feel free to contact us if you have any queries.
